[simpits-tech] USB Sound cards

Here is where it might help me, with Teamspeak.

I am using real general aviation headsets in our sims. When the sound comes from teamspeak to a sim I need it to not go through the simulator's main sounds system. However, It has to transmit from the sims main computer so that buttons on the throttle can be used to toggle the transmit function. I have been using a laptop for sound input to the headsets to keep the sound separate from the computer that runs the sims main sound. The USB sound card might allow me to ditch the laptop and run the sound through the main comuter because you can select in Teamspeak where it transmits and receives sound. Sorry if I didnt explain it well...

speakers.

Poor boy's way of doing it, if you only have 2
different places to send the sounds to and have
access to the sound files:

Say you have cockpit environment sounds going through
speaker set A, and other sounds going through the
headset, or speaker B.

Edit all of the sound files so that the sounds you
want going through set A are faded entirely to the
left, and sounds for set B and faded entirely to the
right.

After that, simply send the wires for the left
channel exclusively to set A, and for the right
channel to set B.

Aside from editing the sound files, no software
trickery required, and no more complicated to wire
than just a regular sound setup.

Downside of course being the loss of stereo or
surround sound. But for some applications (mine
included) there really isn't a need for it.
