[simpits-tech] F16 panels mounting

as you suspected, in real edge lit panels NO light can leak from each
individual panel. When you get into NVIS panels for compatability with NVG
goggles, NO IR can leak either. It makes sealing up Edge lit panels that
have removable circuit boards really difficult to seal cuase' IR can sneak
out in photon sized parts and you cant see it unitl you look at it with
Image intensifiers ( ie Goggles) and then you get BLOOMS of light.
Goggles can be so sensitive. A freind out at Lockheed told me that they got
in the new Black Lambs wool cushions for the ACES II seats and the Test
Pilot was out flying the first plane to have the cushions installed.
He was doing a check flight wearign NVG's and looked down at his crotch near
the Ejection Handle, and his privates were glowing! They later found out
that all of the cushions from the vendor were washed in Tide with phosphor
in it. That phosphor was luminous in an NVG invironment. They had to wash
all the new cushion covers almost 100 times just to remove all traces of
Phosphor from the natural wool fibres. I love the image of the test pilot
looking at his green glowing balls though!
Must have really freaked him out!
