[simpits-tech] About F16 angle console....

Well, I had heard from here that the front instrument panel has a different
rake from the A to C, and hadn't got that far yet. woohoo. I will
incorporate the rake!

I had noticed a slight inward tilt of the side panels, about 4 degrees on
the model (that wasn't hard to measure, just how accurate??). If its more, I
would love to hear about it, since I am close to that step.
I am mocking up the aux panels and sides in Styrofoam before I fab. I think
I will get a good idea of that with them. Well, could be time for a trip to
the nearest USAF base.

I would also like to hear about the bend in the middle of the panels. I
haven't built them yet, and could possibly modify the frame, depends on the
angles. It probably occurs near where the back of the seat meets the bottom.
either in front or behind the fuel panel. Guess I will see where the seat
fits in all this (still have to make the bottom). Yes, I can handle that
mod, now or later. Just a matter of the supports for me.

The panels themselves look to have a five degree rise front to back. Aux
panels on port and starboard are at different angles. Within four or five
degrees.

As far as redoing it, hey this is fun stuff, first time I have really built
anything that came out square :-) I might do a phase 2 as well someday. In
the meantime, this bad dog will help me develop my avionics!!

Don't get me wrong, I want to make this puppy as close to real as I can
given a limited budget (yup, not buying any 6k maintenance trainers off of
ebay - no sir).

Anyway, I think this site/newsgroup is the greatest and my hats off to all
of you.

One of the main difference of the ERTL model are the side panels.
As mentioned before, they are tilted inwards.
Also they have a bend somewhere in the middle of the panel (this gives the
backside a different angle in relation to the ground then the front part).
I found that the ERTL is close to real dimensions on other details.
I am building my pit mixed with real parts and was stunned to find that most
parts fit within milimeters.
Have to mention that i took me hours to get the messurements from the model
and convert them.
Its all about the tolerance you are willing to adopt.
