Hi John

I'm trying to test this.  Attempting to start the system (with your XM
desktop) leads to an error from GEMVDI stating that it's unable to find
assign.sys.

I'm using Windows XP sp2, so I'm guessing that's the root cause.
However, I'm loath to use a random assign.sys file from the net without
knowing precisely what's going right, and what's going wrong...
