Well it turns out that in this cute little sub-$20 board lives the heart 
of a dragon. :)

As of the work in this thread 
(http://forum.pjrc.com/threads/23681-Many-axis-joystick), it can now 
support 128 buttons, 6 axes, 17 sliders and 4 hats.  The analog channels 
are apparently 16 bit.

Check out post #54 for a screen shot of a Windows-based joystick testing 
program that shows all the controls.

I've ordered a couple of these to play with.  I suspect with a little 
work, this could be tweaked to provide the same tweak-ability that the 
Plasma-MM2 has.
