HEhe. Yeah, I was told about that the other day. This is the second time
it's been up. The first time it didn't meet reserve after $3900 in bids.
There are indeed some parts I would like to have, but the cockpit has been
stripped of some serious unobtainium items that would make it extremely
difficult to restore. The lower stick mechanism has been removed and it
appears as if the rudder pedal mechanism is missing. I'd love to have the
HUD - the optics in mine are wrecked. I'd love to pick a few other bits
off of it (side console storm lights, the armament arm/dearm switch box
and the canopy).
There's also some very difficult to repair damage that's been done to the
center instrument panel core - it's not removable without drilling out a
few hundred rivets. The damage done to the right panel half is easier to
repair because the panel will come out after pulling 7 bolts and a
reinforcing bar that's behind it.
It would be a VERY costly restoration project, but a nice start to a less
extensive static display.
