Also, unless the game is written to multi-thread a super fast single core
will beat any dual core.
Apps that multi-thread do great the Windows OS will multi-thread, so will
photo, audio, and video editing apps.

I had a PC crash a while back and went multi-core running x64 Vista.
Half-Life2's Lost coast timedemo ran at 32FPS, other games would not even
run.
Went back to XP x86 (32bit) and the same time demo ran at 68FPS.

Best idea is to look up what you will be playing and read if anyone else is
having problems.

The games really won't benefit from the 64 bit version of XP, but you're 
better off with a pro vs home edition.
