Since you use inventor... why not export as a DXF, then import it 
into Gmax, and then export it as a scenery object (using the FS9 
makemdl sdk) then you could position your aircraft behind it and have a look?

The other option would be to use your model (again) as a virtual 
cockpit, again the makemdl sdk explains how, then just switch to VC 
mode and experiment away :)
