 Weell, if they were in the air doing a holding pattern for hours in bad weather, I'm sure they just forgot what it was like to land.
 
 
 When your flying a sim plane around like that if you need to get up and do something we do have a "PAUSE" button.

Oh yeah and forgot one little tidbit:

They said afterwards that their FIRST indication that something was wrong
was the engines spooling down (because they were FODding out due to, I
dunno, eating asphalt).

The fact that they were sitting 10-12 feet lower than normal apparently did
not strike them as odd.
