I'm not sure, but I think it's just a nonpolar electrolytic. That's what I'm
going to try, anyway. Headset probably won't take any damage, but I'm going
to test it on the aux in jack on my speaker remote before I try the sound
card's mic in. I need new speakers anyway, so nothing to lose there.

I've gathered about 40 pounds of various sizes of 6061 from 1/4" polished
treadplate to 1.5" slabs, 5 pounds of crushed garnet waterjet abrasive
(great for lapping stuff), some copper rod and sheet, a little stainless
(and literally a ton of it if I need more), and so on. And I'm now
officially the lead machinist with tool catalogs and requisition powers.
They wouldn't go for the 20x80 gap bed lathe, but I'll be bugging them about
the 5 axis CNC center every hour of every day until it appears ;)

This job does have some drawbacks like working 7-7 Mon-Sat (which explains
the delays in replies). We're swamped right now. But I got bored today and
made the dovetailed ways for a compound slide to put on the lathe. Once I've
gathered up more aluminum and this teflon coated bronze stuff I'm going to
start on a gantry mill that holds a Sherline head or die grinder with the
leadscrews spun by steppers.
