[simpits-tech] Pneumatic controllers

I seem to recall someone over there saying that getting the proper
resolution was not easy and/or cheap. It was a while back and I'm just
going off the top of my head. It might have been Craig but I honestly can't
remember. But I seem to think this was somewhat of a hurdle in this
project. Maybe your method tackles that.

Awesome, thanks Jay. Yeah I think Craig was the culprit. :) Very encouraging
to see mention of controlling pressure regulators via varying the
voltage.........I can do that with Phidgets and a hacked servo no problem.
Just not sure about resolution.......with the API and equipment I'm using,
I'm seeing a range of about 4500 steps available (I think the numbers are
floats, but I'm pretty sure the controller, or at least my servos, won't
reflect anything much finer than steps of 1.0). With the Phidgets quad
controller and a standard Futaba servo, it looks like I'm getting that much
resolution on the output side, but I'm skeptical.........it might be the
controller is just rounding really convincingly (I have not extensively
tested it). But if I can indeed get 4500 solid, repeatable steps, that's
90,000ft of altitude in 20ft increments.....maaaaan that would be awesome.
I agree with some comments there.......pressure altimeters do have a unique
look. The altimeter and some other gauges on the Frasca trainer I used at
college have, I believe, steppers, and it just isn't the same (at times,
it's
downright horrid).
