In aviation terms, the depth is measured in thousands. The fastener
should be flush. The depth of the cut is determined by the diameter
of the outside. You do not measure the depth, you measure the diameter
of the cut. Most cutters of this kind are 100 degree. They make others but
are special application.

Are the 8-24 or 6-24 cutters different?  Is 100 degrees the "common" angle
for what you'd typically buy from a bulk supplier like Lowe's?
