[simpits-tech] Falcon4, G2I, UT, Atari, BMS and patience (yours! ; )...

Mark, I think that's perfectly understandable and reasonable. There's been
a real PR disaster running in parallel with all the development, and if the
Frugal's World fora are any indication, emotions run high in this community.
F4 has survived to this point, no doubt it will continue.

Do you have any idea why folks are posting gripes over in the F4 Community
fora that the SP4 / BMS 1.03 combination is resulting in a large frame rate
hit? Better still, given your associations, what is _your_ Falcon 4 install
dance like? ;-)

Can't wait to get out from all this interior remodeling stuff and back to
work on my cockpit!! I feel the need for some virtual speed!

Not much I can say in detail because I'm not part of the team doing the
talking to the various parties who own IP that bear on the situation -- yes
I own a little bit in the shape of the changes I've been making under BMS
auspices but "drop in the bucket" is the way to think of that ;-)

Suffice it to say that BMS hasn't made an official statement yet on what
happens next and as I understand it that's simply because it's not clear yet
what will happen. While any official BMS statement won't come from me, I
will say that as a result of what little I do know that it is most
definitely premature to say anything conclusive. It's possible that BMS
efforts will continue largely unaffected, but it's also possible that this
won't come to pass.

Personally I deplore the uninformed and sometimes vitriolic gnashing and
wailing that has happened since G2I made its announcement about the end of
the license with Atari for the Falcon4 code base.

Let me offer a piece of unsolicited advice to everyone that cares about
Falcon4 (as so many of us do): if you don't know, and I mean *know*, what
you are talking about please SHUT UP and have a little patience. I know
"internet time" makes everyone anxious for an instant answer but there are
people who have to talk through complex issues involved and "instant"
resolution just isn't in the cards. Folks who have the community's
interests at heart are trying to work on the issues to our collective
benefit. I am upbeat about their chances for success...in some sense more
than I was even a week ago...let's give the doctors a little more time
before starting to bury the patient.

Cheers,

Mark.
