[simpits-tech] Too Quiet!!!

Thanks! There's still much to be done. The rudder pedals for example. But
I'm getting there - in ten years or so! :)

I forgot to mention that the white lettering on the panel is rub-on letters
that I picked up in a local book/office-supplies store. I lay my hands on
all they had left, as they said that no-one ever asked for it anymore and
they weren't ordering any more of it.

The fiberglassing idea sound reasonable to me, but I have no experience with
it really... But I believe we have a couple of glass experts in the group.

I have a noisy PSU as well. The fan has kind of a whirring sound. I'm
thinking of cutting up a hole on the opposite side of the PSU casing, and
moving the fan there, effectively placing it inside the computer chassis
instead of flush against the outside wall, with the hope that it will dampen
the noise. But I have to work up the nerve to cut it up and extending the
fan's cable.

I've been working on the "quiet computer" setup for a bit myself. I've made
substantial progress by switching entirely to Vantec Stealth fans. Once I
get home next week I'm going to start working on re-doing the mounts and
putting in some gaskets to cut down on the fan-to-case vibration noise.
Right now I'd say my power supply is making the most noise of anything on my
computer, but I'll get to that soon enough....

Anywho, the cockpit looks pretty good!

I've actually been wondering about panels myself lately. I'm wondering how I
should go about making my main panels. Because in the Mercury the panels
just sort of "floated" out on their own and everything hung out in the open,
they need to be fairly strong. Also, the main panel has a big bend in the
top.

What I was thinking is maybe cutting the panels out of cardboard, making the
appropriate bends, and then fiberglassing the whole setup. Any thoughts?

Brian
