[simpits-tech] Laptop DVD drives

Anyone know if laptop CD and DVD drives are universal? I have a Sony with a
CD-ROM and a very pregnant wife. I'd like to put a DVD-ROM in it before I
have to spend multiple days in hospital hell. Sony drives are bloody
expensive, but the pics look exactly the same as Dell, IBM, and pretty much
everyone else, and, naturally, everyone else is way less expensive than
Sony.

Once I get this laptop fixed I promise I'll build something that looks kinda
like a pit. Honest. For real this time. And I won't take it apart and bury
it in the attic for a change ;)
