John you couldn’t upload them to simpits or email them directly. I had a
quick look but couldn’t find them on avsim's fourums.

Cheers
Chris.

Chris, There were two really good photos on AVSIM's cockpit forum on a
C-172 yoke built from tubing to look and act like the real thing. They
might give you some ideas. I saved the photos to my computer. If you
can't find them emil me and I will send them to you.

John

Ok ok.

Simkits are coming along well. They are impressive units for the price
although I'd like to see some improvements with some of the construction
method (like get rid of the "glue" and use small machine screws). We
never intended to use the Simkits CCU since we are already developing
our own code to provide "instructor" type functions for instruments and
failures etc. So all are being driven with phidgets Servo boards. So
far we've coded all the single simple instruments and they work a treat!
About to start on the VOR1, VOR2 and AH. Again they should be simple.
Ive not touched the Pifer (positional sensor) yet don’t quite know what
the electronics are doing or what signals it puts out. We'll use the
phidget 4/8/8 I/O to read it eventually. I suppose it should be easy but
need to do a little research on just how.

Im also working on the controls at present, the sim will have dual yokes
just like the real thing with the mechanism styled on the real C172. Its
quite a simple and effective design that should also allow for easy
installation of control feedback should we need/want to add it at some
stage.

The panel took a long time to get right. I made two before I got it
correct. Its 4.5mm opaque perspex sheet. All the mounting holes are
countersunk to take 9mm machine screws, nuts and washers. Mounting is
aluminium extrusions bought cheap at the local hardware suppiers. All
bolted or rivetted together.

The glarsheild will be much like harold's (foam core, fibreglass).

In all its coming along slowly. Tell me what you want to see and I'll
take some snaps of it. Have you got very far with the simkits yourself?

Cheers
Chris.

Outstanding Chris, as always :)

How are you getting along with the simkits? and did you go for their CCU
or are you still doing the job with phidgets?

More pics and info - NOW! ;)

Roy.
