Should be fine. I think those white LED's run at about 30mA which is a
very low current.

Personal choice. I prefer connectors so that I can remove things for
repair or upgrade.

Hagstrom do a breakout board, the IOX36 which gives you screw terminals
which makes life a lot easier. I used 25-pin D-type connectors simply
because I had a bucket full of them.
