That being said, I don't know how small of an installation you can get, but
another idea for you is to get a laptop HD and adapt that. Newer hard drives
are actually quite well set up to handle a pretty good shock, and if you
built the hard drive into a shock absorbing rig for itself, I don't think
you should have any worries at all.
