[simpits-tech] Jetstream Update

Roy,

Quite a few a/c have the roll/pitch disconnect system, Saab 340, Saab
2000, ERJ 13x/14x etc. The idea is if there is a control
jam/restriction, you can either pull the handle for either pitch, roll
or both, so that the unaffected side maintains some sort of control - as
you've found out the only way to reset the system once on the ground is
to start opening up panels etc. The system can also operate if a higher
than normal force is used, approx 45-50lbs of force for the Saab 340,
which temporarily disconnects the affected channel and is automatically
reset when the force returns to normal.

It should all be in Chapter 27 of the Maintenance Manual, how the system
works and how to reset the system.

Its an ingenious idea and has saved a few people and a/c from an
untimely end.

Good luck on the Jetstream.

Darren

ah, I know now! The beauty of having all those lovely manuals. I've
never
had much interest in this type of aircraft, the fun here is the sim part
for me. It's also pretty cool having a 'pit you can work/play in and
then
stretch out in the back to have your lunch.

Yeah - I'm not sure if the system is very smart, or pretty weird. I
guess
only a real pilot can tell me that.

Interesting. I'd love to hear his comments on the 41.

I won't call you a bastard steve - I'll call you a lucky bastard! ;)

Its always been a liability issue, and since 9/11 its justified paranoia

I'm not a big fan of the 41 - I'm just having fun getting to play with
one.

Roy.
