Hi,
     The Germans sold sets of jigs and fixtures to Franco's Spain in late
1938.
They started building 109s in 1939, However they never received any aero
engines because of the outbreak of WW11. In 1946 England found itself with
loads of nice R.R. Merlins which were sold to the Spanish. These could just
be squeezed in with some cowling mods, the Merlin was heavier than the
original Jumo?, so it made for some fast over the hedge approaches.
If you see the movie the "The Battle of Britain" that's the Spanish Air
Force flying their own fighters and bombers in Luftwaffe markings. They were
sold off in about 1970.
