Very cool, Steve!

My suggestion is to track down your local blueprint shop, a lot of those
would be set up to scan large items like that. Back when I worked for a
diesel engine company I was in charge of restoring a lot of prints. Once we
had them back up to speed we had them all  scanned for safekeeping. Not sure
how much it cost, though.
