I stopped by the plane on my way home tonight, and opening up the main
electronics bay shows - the PDU's are missing! The gen controllers and
diag station is there, but the bus cables are just hanging in free air.

I've carefully read all the manuals concerning both AC and DC power
systems and the two PDU's are indeed the key to then entire system. It
would seem that by removing the PDU's I can safely apply power only to
those busbar's I need with some safety.

I brought the wiring diagrams home, but since these consist of 4 manuals
of A3 size and about 9" think in total - it might take me a while ;)

I can't rely on that, with the breakers located either side of the
flight-deck entrance it would be too easy for someone to accidnetally push
one or more back in.

Having identified the inverters, it is indeed a simple case of pulling the
connector from the box, a 2-minute job.

Cheers Darren.
