I can give you one of the reasons.
aluminium that is used in the aviation industrie is an aluminium/copper =
alloy.
To prevents corrosion, a top layer of pure aluminium is added both =
sides.
You can damage that layer easy thus opposing the alu/copper material to =
the weather.

I was cutting and filing some aluminium canopy brackets at the weekend =
and kept thinking about an article I had read a couple of months ago.
It said under no circumstances should you ever grind aluminium. I =
don't, simply because I know it will clog wheels or discs. I was trying =
to think of the reasons. Health, aluminium contributes I think to =
Parkinsons Disease. Explosion, I could see this with magnesium.
Any of you machinists have any idea.
