[simpits-tech] How much reality?

Got a question...

With my A-4 cockpit I am trying to be as accurate as possible, but I have
come to a point where I am in two minds over how much realism is good, and
can you go too far?

My nav and com radios are a good example: In the A-4 there is an ARC159
UHF radio, and TACAN, neither of which are simulated in FS2k2. I *can*
tune VHF and civil VOR/ILS through the MFD's but that would mean having to
use the MFD's for *every* frequency change, which in reality is not as real
as it could be.....
I am considering modifying the ARC159 to display VHF 5 digit frequencies,
and the TACAN to display good old civil VOR/ILS frequencies (but drop one
digit to make it look different <g>). The up side is that I would do the
bulk of my frequency changes on the panels, the downside, the panels are
not *exact* replicas of the real panels....

What are your thoughts on the whole "how much is too much" deal?

Sean.
