It all depends on the particular unit.  Mine gives me 1.8m at 3m back, one of 
the flash new ones that my wife sells (but wont bring one home for me!) will do 
2m at around 2-2.5m back...  Most have a zoom function, so it would depend on 
what range is available on the lens.
