I got my Instrument Rating in a Frasca 141 simulator and they are GREAT!
The 141 started around $72K. The instruments are real and operate so smoothly
It was a joy to fly. I lived with the sim in a flight school and at night I looked into
how it worked.
The computer was a 386 and had a big I/O bus but the instruments used air pressure just
like
the real ones use. Their was a air pump and the computer just control air pressure going
to the
primary instrument. The rest OT/OP/HSI/VOR2/ADF all used the I/O board.
