Honeywell Named to Provide F-16 Fighting Falcon Avionics Upgrade
Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems recently selected Honeywell
Defense Avionics Systems to develop a four-inch by four-inch, color,
multifunctional display unit for the F-16 that will be a key part of the
Common Configuration Implementation Program undertaken by the U.S. Air
Force. Under the terms of the $20-million contract, Honeywell will build a
lower cost version of the MFD display, as well as supplying a faster display
processor, enhanced graphics capability and more MIL-1553 local area network
channels. Almost 700 Block 40 and 50 F-16 aircraft will be upgraded.
