Is the autosubscribe from the yahoo list still on? If
so then this could be the problem. Anyone
autosubscribed should probably have their initial
preferences set to 'no mail' and be sent an
'invitation' telling them how to manage their
preferences.

(That way only people who know how to
subscribe/unsubscribe will actually get list email).
