Never made Thailand, but spent 17 months in-country in RVN.  First three was
as a forward air guide, like a fac but without an airplane.  Worst combat I
saw was a napalm stike by two F4's out of Cam Ron Bay.  The stupid sh**s
dropped early and damm near blew us all up.  Loved working with the Spooky's
and the army cobra's.  In my fifteen years as a controller I have seen many
things go bad with aircraft, but only a couple where no one walked away.
You were lucky with that BLC emergency, when I was at RAF Bentwaters, a BLC
emergency usually was an ejection letdown.  I know we had one on short final
and by the time the crew put it on the runway (less than a minute) a good
part of the wing was eaten up from the hot air.  Enough war stories, have a
