True, they gave you a "fuel conservation fine" because you were "wasting gas" by driving
so fast. The ticket was $5 payable immediately to the officer. You were only liable for
one ticket per day. If you got stopped more than once you just showed the officer your
conservation fine from earlier that day and you were on your way. Actually it was a real
farce. But they had to "enforce" the law in order to receive federal highway dollars from
the government. But you still had to be driving like a Banshee-from-hell to ever get
stopped.
