Hehe, sorry. Gotta stop throwing out those TLAs all the time! (three letter 
acronyms - appropriately a three letter acronym itself).

SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex. What that means is that the eyepeice, 
through mirrors that retract when the picture is taken, views through the 
same lens as the film. This eliminates parrallax, the effect of the picture 
taken being slightly shifted from the view from the eyepeice because of the 
different lens positions, and is generally a feature reserved for higher-end 
cameras. Hence, when you hear someone talk about an SLR camera, they are 
generally refering to a larger/more expensive camera than your average Joe's 
family vacation camera.
