:   Tetris will run but if you switch back to the Desktop the 
: Tetris blocks still are visible to all other programs (including the 
: Desktop) that are running. 

  This is a bug in Tetris; you can get the same effect in single-tasking GEM
by opening a Desk Accessory and putting it on top of the Tetris window.
Tetris is probably redrawing the moving shape in response to timer events,
without heed of whether its window is uppermost.
