John, this may be a silly question, but would it be possible for your
desktop to automatically open some file types using the VIEW CONTENTS
command unless the DESKTOP.INI had already associated these files with
an application?

Basically, here is what I want to do...

I want users to be able to doubleclick .TXT, .INI, .NFO, .ME and .BAT
files, and for OpenGEM Desktop to automatically show the contents
without calling another application. This would increase the utility of
the desktop for quickly checking some file types, and would reduce the
default package size, as I could take out GEM Write.

However, as soon as an application is added to GEM that can read these
files, and it is installed in the desktop, the desktop should not
automatically show contents when these files are doubleclicked.

Regards

Shane
