[simpits-tech] RadioShack "fire sale"

On their website they have a list of stores that are closing. I got to one at the end of February just in time to pick a few things but the pickings were slim. They were out of the seedstudio stuff, had an esplora and 2 unos. I got the esplora, which I'm glad I did (it has a bunch of sensors on it, has been get to prototype and test basic stuff, it was my first arduino). I have found Inland brand Unos (R3) at a Microcenter for 9.99 but these stores are few and far, but I haven't checked their website.

Just a heads-up, some Radio Shack stores are selling stuff dirt cheap
right now
with the transfer/bankruptcy/liquidation going on. Not all
stores are closing,
but my local branch is. I don't know the discount
situation for stores that are
planned to remain open.

I know I'm not the only one on this list using
Arduinos, so I thought I
would pass on my findings.

Sunday I noticed a sign
on the window, "EVERYTHING ON SALE!!!" the
sign says. "Hmmmm..." I thought.
Checked it out tonight: Arduino Uno R3
for $14.99 (normally $34.99). I cleaned
out their proto boards at $3.49
a piece. Picked up a Seeedstudio ethernet
shield v2 for $12.49 (down
from $31.99). If it works well with the project I'm
working on tonight,
I will return tomorrow and buy all the rest of the ethernet
shields.
Dirt cheap Seeedstudio motor controllers too (which seem to be based
on
the L298N), but I didn't happen to need any.

What's funny is that all the
times I've been in previously, they didn't
have this huge pile of Seeedstudio
goodies. Think I better check stores
in nearby towns for similar deals.

>From what I gathered (at my store, at least) EVERYTHING is
similarly
marked down. So, if you're needing something else they sell
besides
Arduinos and BASIC stamps (like, I dunno, cell phone chargers.....),
you
may be able to get some good deals on those items too.
