You're correct Gene.. I was looking at the wrong part of the interface. The analog connectors do have the full GND/Wiper/VSS connectors. 

Too much wine I guess!

Are you sure? I thought all his stuff was voltage divider stuff. Having 
only wiper & ground doesn't make any sense.
