The DK2 does use an external camera to watch a constellation of IR leds 
that are under the IR transparent face of the DK2.  Take a look here to

It'll certainly be interesting.  I suspect the castAR hardware will be 
shipping soon as well, and that will expand it even more.

Hehe.  Unfortunately, I've got to write a manual for the RotoMaak (a 
desktop rotational casting machine) and the new SLA 3D printer from 
SeeMeCNC before I can start any development work.
