[simpits-tech] castAR cockpit demo...

Those pico-projectors have a very small effective aperture; depth of field should be adequate to avoid any significant focus issues. Keystoning shouldn't be an issue either, as the position of the viewer's eye will see the projection surface with the same keystoned geometry - the image should appear correct, regardless of the projection surface geometry. Granted there will be a small amount of parallax as the projector is not directly in line with the eye, but this should be insignificant for all but the closest projection surfaces.

For those with problems 'seeing' in 3-D, most have developed the ability to judge distance by size and parallax shift, particularly with moving objects. Where a statically-rendered 3-D image may still prove troublesome, the parallax shift that will occur with the castAR when the wearer moves their head will permit this effect. Such a user should experience 3-D in the same manner that they do in real life.

I'm looking forward to seeing it for myself as well.

hi,

i watched a longer video, the interviewer had 3D perception problems
as you describe, yet he claims it worked for him. he describes an
almost imperceptable head-movement that helps him see things up-close.

i hadn't thought about flat screens and possible problems with focus
- like the people looking at the table top which is (maybe) 45
degrees off wrt the projector. there's opportunity for keystoning and
regions being out-of-focus.

i'll be counting on Gene for a brutally honest review.
