Although I smoked my first Arduino card, I'm not giving up on this yet...
After some research, I was able to pick up some Serial-to-Aircore driver ICs...
This may pan out to be a very nice solution. Read a Address-Byte/Data-Byte from the USB port, determine which chip the data belongs to, then clock in the data byte.
(At least that's the theory... Should have a new Arduino card soon...
