Saturday I got all but 8 parts cut for the new screen configuration.
David Allen provided me with a nice drawing that I used as the basis for
the new screen. This one consists of four main segments that covers 180
degrees and two smaller segments that when added to the ends gives me a
225 degree screen.
I'll get the last parts cut either this week or this coming Saturday and
begin assembly. I've reduced the old screen to scrap in order to recover
the 2x4s I used for the legs. :)
The new screen has a diameter of 15' instead of that absurd 24' I was
working with before. :)
I found a supplier of raw screen material here:
http://www.buildyourownprojectionscreen.com/
The prices seem pretty reasonable. They also sell a .090" thick rear
projection material that I may be able to use with the F-15.
In order to build a screen suitable for rear projection, it would have to
be made from some steel components in order to reduce the number of
structural parts - it needs to be "sparse" enough to not cause shadows on
the screen.
