Gene, thank you for the kind words and the correction.

One correction: The video you linked to however is actually my Dad's
pneumatic model built from PVC (SimCraft DIY) and powered from a vacuum
cleaner. STAR is completely updated and is electromechanical. It is a
professional architecture that is currently in use by the US Army to train
off-road driving techniques.

Our flagship racing sim, the APEX sc830 uses the same components found in
STAR. You can see videos of the APEX sc830 in action here:
http://www.simcraft.com

We'll be adding some videos of some additional chassis builds shortly,
including the DIY lumber chassis we built in a weekend.

Sean

You NEVER, EVER, EVER buy a simulator cab with the thought of "Gee, I can
just cut that down and put it back together later." EVER.

NEVER.

EVER.

Bill,

If by some freak of nature you get that for two hundred dollars, I will come
down to LA. We'll tow it to a scrap metal dealer. We will take out the seats
and cut out anything else of value (cockpit panel etc) right in the parking
lot with a reciprocating saw, and sell the rest (including the trailer -
which is probably worth 1000.00) as scrap metal. You might go home with a
few jinglies in your pocket even!

But let's be realistic about this. If you can buy something like that for
200.00, I'm moving to California. I'll hook it up to the ass end of my Jeep
and put a mattress in it. Then I'll wire up some lights on it and register
it as a camper! A little swing out awning in the back. You know ... nice.

It has 2 full PFC Hvy yokes +a real live throttle quadrant and maybe some
real gauges could be worth thousands if it was glass I would win it no
matter what or if it was Aluminum I would bid like hell but its sheet metal
man is above my head. It could have real gauges but I don't think it fly's
software. It was a test lab but someone that wants to convert it its a steel
at any price

Hello purveyors of simpits.org. My company launched a product this past
week that is one you may be interested in checking out. It builds upon our
completely free motion sim option (http://www.sourceforge.net/simcraftdiy)
that my late father launched over a decade ago and enjoyed working on with
sim builders around the world.

The product is called SimCraft STAR and basically it incorporates all the
hard parts of motion sim in a box and leaves the design and customization of
the cockpit to you.

You can read about STAR here:
http://www.simcraft.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=39

and here:

http://www.simcraft.com/star.html

Thank you for your time and consideration, Sean

That's pretty damn cool. Check out the video:

btw, the correct Sourceforge link is

What this is ,is a adaptation of Acesim.com basic 2 degree of motion
simulator .I have not read it but by looking at it,it appears to be the
original idea that I bought the plans for and built out of PVC highly
updated NOT a authentic professional 3 degree of motion platform. While real
ones might not be in form you can buy a professional 3 degree of motion
simulator ready to install you cockpit on it for $30,000 .For a long time
before the recession I was a serious buyer so I looked at many companies
that built small commercial simulators..

Several builders including innovation simulator had the idea to build an
individual personal small foot print platform capable of holding 400 pounds
Maximum including the sim&the pilots weight for $5,000 .I have a feeling
that once the economy turns around if it ever does we will again see an
individual simulator hit the streets for $10,000 maybe less. I saw a picture
and a movie of an individual cockpit basically it was a Cessna 172 a section
about 5 feet long duplicated in Fiberglass.
What I saw and what I was willing to buy was a chair sim full 3 degree of
motion not 6 degree for $4995 with no cockpit. Frankly at that time it would
not work for me as I weighed 280 pounds. Now at 189 pounds I would have
bought it in a new york minute. If you can wait a couple of years I am sure
they will come to market w/Asian parts under $5000 There is a movie floating
around on "you tube" probably because it 6-7 years ago from I think Cal Poly
Pomona California that showed it as a tub (like in bathtub)and student were
trying it out.that one had major movement much more than this one because
this is limited by the frame where that one was built by a company that
builds simulators up to 1/2 million dollars . As you read you'll guess I
don't have much of opinion of it. Try and get in it I did almost broke my
shoulder had a bruised shoulder for a
long time. Those longitudinal bars restrict the actual limitation of the
aileron movement unlike a real one where there is no limitation in theory. If
you can find that movie it blow you away its almost like being on one of
them giant rollycoasters . The one in the Move could handle an F-16,15,14
an aerobatic aircraft .

regards

Bill
