With Vista you really do need to go for a DX10 card, like an nvidia 
8800 or something of that flavour.
But while talking RAM, FS doesn't actually use that much.  We had FS9 
peaking at just over half a gig, while FSX/Vista was not that much 
more.  As Ido said; Video card is king here :)
