Ahh, there is that. :)

I found out about a vinyl cutting tool that will fit in the spindle collet
on my ShopBot. I need to do some more research on it, but if it is as
good as it looks I may be able to produce "decals" for the simpit
builders.

Things like the ejection seat warnings or the fuselage notations like the
Armament box or other info. The problem is that I don't know how small I
can go to cut lettering out with this thing. At $299 for the cutter, I'm
leery of spending the money until I hear from some actual users of the
tool.

I don't think I'm going to resume work on the F-15 until I get it set up
on a proper support. My next door neighbor is a wizard with a welder and
he's going to help build a new carrier for the sim. It will be similar in
design to an engine hoist, but have three legs instead of two. The main
support structure will live in the nose gear well and likely bolt to the
original gear leg mounts. The cockpit will be raised off the floor high
enough to place the fuselage waterline four to five feet off the floor.
The downside is that a whole new Fred (Fred III!) will have to be built.

I have a pair of the long strip formation lights that will go nicely with
the new Fred though, so it's not that bad. They light up at 110v/60Hz but
they're rated for 400Hz. I'll have to build a new supply just for the
lights as I don't want to use the same supply to drive the avionics with.
