I've access to some pretty tasty CNC gear and I would think that our laser
group would be able to handle laser engraving for me.

There used to be a system which used a sandwich of black and white
plastic, you could engrave through either to yield lettering of the
opposite colour. We used loads to label home-brewed equipment but the
fools dumped the engraver when it failed current code requirements.

I wonder if that stuff could be laser engraved .. ?  Hmmm...
