[simpits-tech] GA to PC headset adaptors

Howdy,

I'm exploring this issue once again. My flight sim group uses Teamspeak for
MSFS fly-ins and I'd like to use my aviation headset for voice comms. Just
wanted to get some input on sound quality of various solutions.
This seems to be the only commercial unit I can find:

https://www.marvgolden.com/headsets/adapters.htm (first product on the page)

Only trouble is I noticed one user review on another page said he got poor
quality with this rig. Any of you guys use it?

There's also the DIY route, this schematic seems to cover things well:

http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/howto/adapter.htm

The nice thing is that schematic came from the folks at David Clark and the
guy tested it with a DC headset.....mine is a DC as well. That alleviates my
fears of frying my headset, to some extent, but I'd almost be willing to pay
the $$$ for a commercial setup to avoid almost entirely the possibility of
trashing my headset.

I also recall someone here was building adaptors at one time. Any spares
sitting around? :)

My main concern (well, aside from a potentially nuked headset) is the quality
of the mic signal to the PC. Would the commercial rig be good in this regard,
and/or would a homebrew rig with high quality parts provide better audio
quality?
