Justin,

Contact a local school, they should know of a shop. Here at
Virginia Tech, most departments have someone that does the
out of warranty repairs. In the Physics Department that is me.
We only have a couple and they are mostly used by Astronomy.
The rest use the ceiling mounted LCD based projectors (now
that is something I would like to have). I mostly change lamps
and lube fan bearings.
I would guess the diode they talk about is actually a bridge
rectifier as the lamps mostly operate at 12 volts d.c. As you
operate yours at a higher duty cycle than a classroom, it
is possible to have other components fail, I have just not
had any.
