XP is VERY picky about gameport devices, and doesn't handle analogue devices
at all.

Many gameport manufacturers simply say "not usable with win XP" rather than
fight it.

Basically, in XP, gameport devices have driver-only support.

As a work around, try going to

http://www.chproducts.com/retail/tech_chanlg.htm

and downloading their drivers. Since CH's old yoke's etc used standard wirng
for the pots (though not for the buttons) this "should" allow XP to recognize
your new homemade device as a default joystick.

These drivers are actually designed to let XP recognize the pots and default
buttons only on CH products - the programmable functions, extra buttons, etc
etc etc are just not supported any more by Win XP.
