[simpits-tech] Phidget question - analog inputs

Ok, I know this is probably a ridiculously stupid question, but I've been 
looking at the Phidgets webpage the past couple of days, and I had a 
question about analog inputs. What exactly are they measuring? Resistance? 
Voltage? Something else?

I'm interested because I'm looking for the best way to interface 3 position 
switches, and I thought if I could do it using 1 analog channel instead of 
2/3 digital channels, that would be a good way to go....
