Well Remove all the bulbs.... :-)

And replace them with leds used in a mobile phone - 10 of these should
cost somewhere in the region of 6£

Subject: [simpits-tech] Panel Lighting Mystery Solved

Well, what a surprise.

1. I put a meter across the connector to the backlight panel and found a
dead short.

2. Careful inspection revealed a heap of tiny flush screw-heads under
the
paint on the back of the panel. (Remember, this is a prototype).

3. Removing the screws and carefully peeling away the thin plastic sheet
which covered the back revealed... that the thin plastic sheet is
actually
a PCB on which there are no fewer than 48 of the smallest bulbs you'll
ever see. One was broken, the others are blackened - presumably from
being over-driven.

So, mystery solved - now the problems begin. No way do I want to have to
drive that many bulbs (there are three panels) and white LED's are too
expensive.

ARSE.

Roy.
