Justin, 
the idea is OK but we're working on a much bigger project and as such we
need to develop this stuff anyway. The C172 is really a prototype for
the technology and development. The MSFS Instructor station is a little
underpowered for what need so we're essentially writting something from
scratch.

Could you not use the Simkits CCU and provide the instrument failures
through a 2nd PC running the FS flight instructor station?
