Justin,
Not sure what happened to the deltahawks but 4 of us Aussies, 3 from =
Sydney and one from Adelaide got together two weeks ago and had a LAN =
meet 7 days straight. The other 3 all took days off work for that week. =
I had to juggle work and fly that week. Clocked nearly 700km worth of =
driving in that week going up and down across town. Nevertheless, we =
finished a campaign in Falcon 4 in six days time. We also flew to the =
real clock time. Another word, the campaign was started at 9am on day1's =
morning. Little sleep through out...try to make up time when we are =
behind and also flown from differentsquadrons, airframes and it felt =
like work!
Before the end of Day 1, China already joined into the war,by Day 3 =
Russian joined in... and I have never seen a day 3 with so many enemy =
jets in the sky deadlier than Day 1 because it is now full of SU27s. I =
didnt carry my semi finished pit over to the pit. While one of the guy =
there had a ACEII chair with side panels mounted as his pit. The rest of =
us just flew at the desk.
There were a fair share of problem with Falcon. But it was good while it =
lasted. In between flight planning, two of us will go into the other =
room and have a jam on the guitar, or have a smoko, or replenish on the =
beer.=20
Pretty hectic way to play falcon. It was something different no doubt. =
But its the hassle of carrying the gear and also the hours of driving =
(especially after a long night and youare tired). Try not crash while =
you are on the Sydney Harbour Bridge falling asleep behind the wheels or =
not being able to really drink incase of a Random Breath Test on the =
long drive home does takes the fun out of it a little. (only if I had =
that week off and also somewhere to sleep up there, oh well. You cant =
have everything :)
I can fly with comfort and drink as much as I want when I am flying F4 =
online here at home. Minus all the gear carrying and driving. lets say I =
wouldnt be keen for another LAN meet until another one of this kind of =
long duration LAN is organised again.
A single day LAN meet simply doesnt gives me enough satisfaction and =
taste of multiplayer falcon when I fly with guys online almost on a =
nightly basis. Unless like you said in the Deltahawk format I think they =
have their "Base" setup premanently, so guys can just rock up and fly. =
With their pit warm and ready. Now that will be a dream only if I got =
the room hehe.
Cheers,
Al
Sydney, Oz

Did the DeltaHawks disband? Their website seems to be gone. I bet =
getting together like they did was a blast. I'd love to do that someday.
